5. Transmission of Papers to the Appellate Court
Within five days after filing the notice of appeal, the clerk of the trial court transmits the complete record (with the notice of appeal) to the clerk of the proper appellate court.
6. Transmission of Records in Case of Death Penalty
Special rules formerly governed the automatic elevation of records in death-penalty cases; under People vs. Mateo, such cases are now first transmitted to the Court of Appeals rather than directly to the Supreme Court.
