The table and the digest carry the corrected year; worth raising in class so the citation you recite matches the report.

Captions worth knowing before you search. Two entries are captioned in the syllabus differently from how the reports caption them — both verified against lawphil:

Items 9 and 10 — Philippine Refining Co., Inc. v. Aboitiz & Co. Aboitiz & Co. was only a co-defendant. The report captions it Philippine Refining Co., Inc. v. Francisco Jarque, Jose Corominas, and Aboitiz & Co., G.R. No. 41506, March 25, 1935 — commonly cited as Philippine Refining Co. v. Jarque. Note also that lawphil files it without the L- prefix.

No cases are assigned under this chapter. It is the short bridging chapter that sets up the ones that follow: Art. 712 lists occupation, intellectual creation, law, donation, succession, and tradition in consequence of certain contracts, with prescription supplying a further mode.

The distinction the professor is setting up here is the one that pays off in Chapter X (Occupation) and Chapter XI (Donation) — occupation is an original mode, acquiring ownership over a thing that had no owner, while donation and tradition are derivative, passing an existing owner's title along with its defects. Nothing is digested here, but the classification is recitation material.

Hidden treasure (Art. 718) cross-refers to Arts. 438–439 in Chapter II and to the usufructuary's right under Art. 566 in Chapter VI. Same rule, three placements in the syllabus.

The re-assignments are the point of this chapter. Alejandro, Gestopa, and Sicad are each listed once under "donations to be delivered after the donor's death" and again under either inter vivos or mortis causa — the professor is using the same facts to show that the label the deed carries does not decide the question.
